Lynn Miller
Lynn Miller is a Watauga native from the Bethel community with extensive experience in Early Childhood Education. She was a Lead Teacher at Mary’s Montessori for 20+ years and is about to begin her 24th year with Watauga County Schools with the After School program. She excited to work again at Kinderwood/ Imagine with the 3-5 year olds. When she is not working with children she enjoys spending time with family and friends, two dogs and a cat, and trying new foods.
Mercedes Evans
I have lived in North Carolina for almost 15 years; I am originally from Peru. I moved from Lima/Peru to Wilkesboro. I live there with my husband and my animals.
I have a bachelor's degree in Business and an Associate of Arts. My first language is Spanish, and I speak English and a little French.
I’ve been working at Kinderwood School for almost 6 years. I never planned to work as a teacher; my work experience was completely different in the Ministry of Justice in my country. But never say never, and here I am.
I found a passion for working with kids, and I love their spontaneity and inquisitiveness. Besides, I am giving back by sharing my time with them and teaching Spanish. My heart is fulfilled at the end of the day, after I spend time with those little human beings.
I also spend time taking care of my animals, gardening, playing with watercolors, playing with clay, and running my little business on Etsy. I travel so often to see my family, back and forth to Peru and Colombia.
About the Classroom
In our classroom children work on becoming independent, gaining confidence, physical and emotional awareness and regulation, all while freely choosing activities from a prepared environment. Having a multi-aged classroom allows for peer-to-peer teaching creating a sense of community, importance and belonging in the classroom. Montessori teaching allows teachers to help children through the materials at their own pace, adapting lessons to the individual needs of each student.
